Our story

Built across disciplines, on purpose.

Malanc Projects was founded by professional engineers who had each watched the same problem from different sides: a competent design reaching site and losing something in translation.

Our founders came from mechanical, civil, electrical, mechatronics, instrumentation and process backgrounds. That range is why a Malanc team can stand in a pump house and speak sensibly about the concrete, the pipework, the motor control centre and the telemetry in the same conversation.

Our mission

To deliver engineering works that function on the day of handover and keep functioning afterwards — while relieving clients of the management burden that comes with them.

Our vision

To be the specialist engineering partner South African municipalities, consultants and principal contractors call first when a project has to be right.

Our philosophy

Engineering is a promise made in drawings and kept on site. We close that gap with experienced supervision and honest reporting.

Capability

Six engineering disciplines under one roof.

On multidisciplinary work this removes the coordination gaps where infrastructure projects usually lose time and money.

Mechanical

Pump sets, rotating equipment, pipework, plant rooms and HVAC.

Civil

Layer works, reinforced concrete, brickwork, steel fixing and waterproofing.

Electrical

LV reticulation, motor control centres, building installations and certification.

Mechatronics

Integration where control, actuation and automation cross disciplines.

Instrumentation

Level, flow and pressure instrumentation, control loops and telemetry.

Process

Water treatment and sanitation layout, hydraulics and equipment selection.

Our values

Six commitments we are willing to be measured against.

Integrity in pricing

We price what we can build, and we build what we priced. Exclusions are stated at tender stage, not discovered at claim stage.

Safety without exception

No task is urgent enough to bypass a risk assessment. Safety files and method statements precede mobilisation.

Workmanship that survives inspection

Work is offered for acceptance only once it has passed our own inspection and test plan.

Reporting as a discipline

Daily site diaries, weekly progress and monthly reports. You should never have to ask where the project stands.

Capacity you can borrow

Main contractors and consultants use us to absorb scope and the management load that comes with it.

Relationships over transactions

Most of our work comes from clients we have already handed a project over to.

How we engage

Four ways clients bring us in.

  • As an installation subcontractor — we take a mechanical, electrical or civil package off a principal contractor and run it as our own.
  • As a design and advisory partner — CAD across five disciplines, buildability review and equipment selection.
  • As a direct contractor — to municipalities, water utilities and private developers.
  • As tender support — tender drawings, bills of quantities and pricing assistance.

How we work

A process that removes surprises.

Four clear stages, each producing something you can inspect, test or file.

01

Consultation

We start on site or around your drawings.

02

Planning

Scope is broken down into a works breakdown structure, a resource plan and a realistic programme with the critical path identified and agreed.

03

Engineering Design

Our engineers produce or interrogate the design, generate CAD drawings across mechanical, electrical, process and instrumentation, and confirm buildability.

04

Quotation

You receive a transparent, itemised price against a defined scope, with exclusions stated plainly.

Leadership

Led from the site, not the boardroom.

Velaphi Ncube (B.Eng) leads Malanc Projects as Director and Project Manager. Enquiries reaching our office reach an engineer.

Our project managers hold engineering qualifications and carry site responsibility, so the person who prices your work is accountable for building it.
