Buying a panel and buying a working installation are not the same transaction. A panel that arrives untested, unlabelled and accompanied by a schematic that no longer matches the wiring becomes the contractor's problem on the day of commissioning — which is invariably the day with the least available time.

Malanc Projects manufactures motor control centres, distribution boards and control panels in our own facility in South Hills, Johannesburg. Panels are built to approved general arrangement and schematic drawings, wired, ferruled, labelled and functionally tested before they leave.

Scope of works

Each item is work we self-perform or directly supervise.

Motor control centres
Multi-section MCCs with starters, soft starters and variable speed drives, metering, protection and duty rotation for pump stations and plant.
Distribution boards
Main and sub-distribution boards built to the specified fault level, with correct busbar arrangement and protection coordination.
Control and instrumentation panels
PLC panels, instrument panels and marshalling cabinets with proper segregation and terminal arrangement.
Pump control panels
Duty, assist and standby control with level inputs, dry-run protection, run-hour equalisation and alarm outputs.
Fire pump control panels
Panels appropriate to fire system requirements, including supply integrity and testing arrangements.
Enclosure fabrication
Sheet metal enclosures, gland plates, chassis and mounting arrangements fabricated to suit the environment and IP requirement.
Panel wiring and labelling
Ferruled wiring to schematic, correct segregation of power and control, and durable labelling on every device and terminal.
Factory acceptance testing
Functional testing of every control, interlock, indication and protection function on the bench before dispatch.
Panel upgrades and retrofits
Replacement of obsolete starters, addition of VSDs or telemetry, and rewiring of existing panels with updated schematics.

Access, spare capacity, gland space and component layout arranged for the person who has to work on it in five years.

We do not stop at the loading bay — installation, termination, protection setting and live commissioning are part of the offer.

Frequently asked.

Yes, and it is our most common arrangement. We work from the consultant's specification and schematics, issue general arrangement and detailed schematic drawings for approval, and only then start manufacture. Any technical query is raised before build rather than resolved with a modification on site.

Yes, and we encourage it. Witnessing the FAT is the cheapest opportunity anyone gets to find a problem — a functional issue found on the bench costs an afternoon, while the same issue found during live commissioning can cost a shutdown window.

It depends on the size of the panel and the availability of major components such as drives and breakers. We confirm a realistic lead time at order stage based on actual supplier confirmations, and we tell you immediately if a component slips rather than letting you discover it at delivery.

Yes. Replacing obsolete starters, adding variable speed drives, integrating telemetry or rewiring to a corrected schematic. On older panels we start with a survey, because the existing drawings very often no longer reflect what is actually installed.

Yes. Delivery, positioning, cable termination, protection setting and live functional commissioning are part of what we offer, and we would generally recommend it — the party that built the panel is best placed to commission it.
