Overview

Fabricated in the workshop so site time stays short.

Fabrication is where site time is either saved or squandered. Every spool that arrives on site already cut, welded, tested and painted is a spool that does not need scaffolding, hot work permits and a crew standing in a trench figuring out a mitre.

Malanc Projects fabricates steel pipework for water infrastructure, HVAC systems and industrial process installations. We work from issued drawings or we produce the fabrication drawings ourselves from a general arrangement, and we take dimensions from the actual site rather than trusting the as-built.

Scope of works

What this covers.

Each item is work we self-perform or directly supervise.

Spool fabrication
Straight lengths, bends, tees and reducers fabricated to isometric or general arrangement drawings with flanges set to correct bolt orientation.
Bends and mitres
Fabricated bends and mitred sections where standard fittings are unavailable or unsuitable for the pressure class.
Headers and manifolds
Pump station and plant room headers fabricated as complete assemblies with branches, supports and drain points included.
Specials and adapters
Puddle flanges, wall sleeves, dismantling joints, taper pieces and bespoke adapters for connecting dissimilar systems.
Sheet metal and ducting
HVAC sheet metal ducting fabricated to drawing including transitions, bends and access provisions.
Welding and NDT
Welding to appropriate procedure with non-destructive testing where the specification or pressure class requires it.
Surface preparation and coating
Blasting, priming and coating systems applied to specification before dispatch, protecting the pipework from day one.
Site fabrication and tie-ins
On-site fabrication for closing pieces, tie-ins and adjustments where prefabrication is not practical.
Pipe supports and brackets
Supports, anchors, guides and brackets fabricated to suit the loads and movement the pipework will actually experience.

Benefits

Why it matters who does this work.

Site time compressed

Prefabricated assemblies mean shorter installation windows, less hot work on site, and less disruption to live operations.

Dimensions taken from reality

We survey the actual site before fabricating. As-built drawings are a starting point, not a source of truth.

Checked before dispatch

Dimensional verification and, where specified, pressure testing and NDT completed in the workshop rather than discovered on site.

Coated before installation

Surface preparation and coating applied under controlled conditions, giving a far better result than brush-painting in a trench.

Supports engineered

Anchors, guides and supports designed for the actual loads and thermal movement rather than added as an afterthought.

Delivered ready to install

Items arrive marked, oriented and sequenced for installation, with the right bolts, gaskets and jointing materials.

Our process

How we deliver it.

Each stage produces something you can inspect, test or file.

01

Site survey and dimensional take-off

Actual dimensions, levels and flange orientations measured on site to eliminate the tolerance stack that causes site rework.

02

Fabrication drawings

Isometrics or general arrangements produced or checked, and issued for approval before any material is cut.

03

Material procurement

Pipe, fittings, flanges and consumables procured to the specified grade and pressure class with material certificates retained.

04

Workshop fabrication

Cutting, fitting, welding and dimensional control carried out under supervision in a controlled workshop environment.

Sectors

Industries this serves.

The same discipline applied to different operating environments.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Either. We fabricate directly from issued isometrics or fabrication drawings, or we produce fabrication drawings from a general arrangement and survey and issue them to you for approval before cutting. On refurbishment work the second route is usually safer, because the existing installation rarely matches the record drawings.

Carbon steel and stainless steel across the sizes typically encountered in water infrastructure, HVAC and industrial services, together with the flanges, fittings and specials to suit. Material grade and pressure class follow the specification, and material certificates are retained as part of the quality record.

Where the specification or pressure class requires it, yes — through accredited providers, with reports forming part of the handover documentation. We will also recommend NDT on critical joints even where it is not strictly specified, if the consequence of a failure justifies it.

Yes, where prefabrication genuinely is not practical — closing pieces, tie-ins and adjustments. But we prefabricate wherever we can, because workshop conditions produce better welds, better coatings and better dimensional control than a trench does.

Yes. Surface preparation and coating to the specified system is applied in the workshop under controlled conditions before dispatch. Touch-up after installation is done on site, but the primary protection is applied properly beforehand.
