A pump that runs is not the same as a pump that works. Plenty of installations spin up, make the right noise and deliver considerably less than the design duty — usually because of pipework strain on the flanges, poor suction conditions, incorrect impeller trim, or a commissioning process that consisted of switching it on and listening.
Malanc Projects installs and commissions pump sets across water supply, sanitation, dewatering, fire protection and industrial process duties. We record flow, pressure, current and vibration at commissioning and compare them against the design duty point. If the installation does not reach duty, it is not finished.

- Suction and delivery pipework
- Manifolds, headers, valves, strainers and supports arranged so that hydraulic conditions at the pump are actually acceptable.
- Baseplate, grouting and alignment
- Plinth preparation, baseplate setting, grouting and laser or dial alignment recorded on the commissioning sheet.
- Pump control and protection
- Motor control, soft starters and variable speed drives, level control, dry-run protection and duty rotation logic.
- Pump refurbishment and replacement
- Like-for-like replacement, upgrade or refurbishment of existing sets, including adaptation of existing pipework and plinths.

Duty verification
We confirm the required flow and head against the actual system curve rather than accepting a nameplate figure at face value.
Site and pipework survey
Existing plinths, pipework, suction conditions, electrical supply and access recorded and checked for suitability.
Equipment supply or receipt
Pump sets supplied or client-supplied equipment received, inspected and stored correctly before installation.
Installation, grouting and alignment
Set positioned, plinth prepared, baseplate grouted, coupling aligned to tolerance and pipework connected without induced strain.

We measure it. Flow is established by an appropriate method for the installation, discharge and suction pressures are read, motor current is recorded, and the resulting operating point is compared against the pump curve and the design duty. All of it goes onto the commissioning sheet in the handover pack.
In our experience: pipework strain transferred into the pump casing, misalignment or inadequate grouting, poor suction conditions causing cavitation, short cycling due to badly set controls, and dry running where protection was never configured. Every one of those is an installation and commissioning issue rather than an equipment defect.
Often, yes. We survey the existing plinth, flange positions and pipework, then select or adapt a replacement that fits the existing arrangement. Where the existing arrangement is the reason the old pump failed, we will tell you that and price the correction rather than repeating the problem.
Yes, including the associated dedicated supply, changeover arrangements and control panel. Fire installations carry specific requirements around supply integrity and testing, and the commissioning documentation reflects that.
Yes, where they suit the duty. VSDs are genuinely valuable on variable-demand systems and largely wasted on fixed-duty transfer applications. We will tell you which situation you are in rather than fitting one because it sounds modern.
