Electrical work is where corner-cutting is easiest to hide and most expensive to discover. A panel that was never functionally tested, a cable that was never megger tested, a protection setting that was left at factory default — none of it is visible until something trips or, worse, does not trip.

Malanc Projects executes electrical installations across water infrastructure, commercial buildings and industrial plant. We manufacture our own motor control centres and distribution boards, which means the panel arriving on your site has been wired, labelled and functionally tested by the same company that will install and commission it.

Motor control centres
MCCs designed, manufactured, wired, labelled, factory tested and installed for pump stations, treatment works, plant rooms and fire systems.
Distribution boards and reticulation
Main and sub-distribution boards, LV cable reticulation, cable racking, glanding and terminating to specification.
Building electrical installations
Lighting, small power, emergency lighting, essential supplies and distribution within commercial and public buildings.
PLC programming and controls
Control logic for pump duty/standby rotation, level control, treatment plant sequences and building services, written and commissioned by our own engineers.
Instrumentation wiring and loop testing
Field instrumentation wired, loop tested and calibrated end to end so the reading at the panel matches reality in the tank.
Standby and changeover systems
Generator changeover arrangements, essential distribution and load management for facilities that cannot afford an outage.
Earthing and lightning protection
Earth mats, bonding and surge protection appropriate to the exposure of the installation.
Compliance testing and certification
Insulation resistance, earth continuity, earth fault loop impedance and polarity testing, with certificates of compliance issued to SANS 10142.
Electrical maintenance and fault finding
Planned inspection, thermographic scanning and reactive fault finding on LV installations and control systems.

Overloads, earth leakage and motor protection configured to the connected load and recorded — not left on factory defaults.

Load assessment and design review

Connected load, diversity, cable sizing and protection coordination checked against the design before any material is ordered.

Panel design and manufacture

General arrangement and schematic drawings issued for approval, then the panel is built, wired and labelled in our workshop.

Factory acceptance testing

Functional testing of the panel before dispatch — every control, interlock and indication proven on the bench.

Site installation

Cable reticulation, racking, glanding and termination executed and inspected against the schematic.

Yes. Electrical installation work within our scope is tested and certified by a registered person in accordance with SANS 10142. The certificate and supporting test records form part of the handover pack, issued at practical completion rather than chased afterwards.

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. We work from the consultant's schematics and specification, issue general arrangement and schematic drawings for approval before manufacture, and offer the panel for factory acceptance testing before it is dispatched to site.

We do both. Our engineers write and commission control logic for pump duty and standby rotation, level control, treatment plant sequences and building services. Because the same team wires the panel and writes the code, control faults get resolved rather than debated.

Usually. We plan the changeover in advance — pre-wiring the new panel, staging temporary supplies where needed, and sequencing the cutover so that the live outage window is as short as the installation genuinely requires. We will tell you honestly how long that window has to be.

Yes, as part of planned electrical maintenance. Thermographic scanning of distribution boards and MCCs under load identifies loose terminations and overloaded circuits before they become failures, and the report tells you which findings are urgent and which can wait for the next shutdown.
